Poster design
Once I created the final prototype for the product, I found it easy to design a final poster; I just applied the same style I used in my prototype to the poster, just making it more clear and concise and to the point. However, I also found it necessary to leave a bit of mystery behind it making the audience intrigued and leave them asking 'why is this tea so thrilling?'. Repeating the logo throughout the design ensures that the audience are more likely to remember the company behind such a 'thrilling tea'. The logo is blended/ faded into the background as it is repeated, so that it does not get in the way of the main message. One of the logos isn't faded so that it comes into focus what the company is.
There are some flaws in this poster however. The colours used are very vivid and will elicit certain emotions in the viewer. For example, red evokes strong emotion, specifically passion, love etc. or sometimes danger, anger, hatred (considering blood is red).
Below is the final poster:
Final protoype
I have finished my final prototype (above). I really think that the colours I have used are very effective because it represents the flavour well. The type is the same type I used in the previous model because of reasons I have previously stated (see older posts) however with this one, I used white and gave the type a dark drop shadow to make it stand out from the scores of text in the background; text that is supposed to attract but subtly.
I took pictures of the old package and the new one to understand the contrasts and why my new prototype is an improvement. I think that colour is a big factor in why the new package is an improvement, I notice this because the black and white model looks quite dull in comparison.
I also included a product description, company logo, recycle emblem and ingredients to this package to make it look better.
However I did notice a few problems with the design too. Once again, I had to use tape to secure it because although I bought double-sided tape I managed to lose it -_-. This made the whole thing look messy which isn't good. As long as the overall idea can be acknowledged though I can see it being a major problem as this is the prototype after all. There were a few typing errors in the ingredients list which I only noticed after printing out, this is more of a major issue but considering I have attempted to print this final prototype about three times making mistakes with a poor printer, I decided to let it slip. Also the printer tends to produce thin lines on anything I print out in colour. This could not be fixed.
Overall I think It is very visually striking and will fit it's target audience (see older posts for info) quite well.

Self criticism/development
After finishing my first prototype of the packaging, and after my peers had a look at it, I realised many problems with it's design. The biggest problem about it was the thickness of the material I used to make the net with; it was too thin and weak. As you can see above it is slowly falling apart right now. The next things I noticed was the lack of colour, the lack of contents (ingredients label, product description etc.) I noticed that I left the bottom of the prototype completely blank. This could have been filled up with all of the above. Lastly I used tape to secure the net which doesn't look very neat. I tried to use a glue stick but it was too weak. I should use either stronger glue or maybe double-sided tape for a more neater finish in the final prototype.

Peer Assessment
During my last lesson we had a peer assessment. We were put into groups to discuss the progress of each other's work and give helpful feedback. It was good to see how everyone else was doing for a bit of inspiration, encouragement, and confidence in my own work. The general thoughts that I gathered from the experience was that I need to generate more ideas and be more critical in my work, showing more research to go along with it.
However, people's views were tainted by their inability to navigate my blog. They failed to notice that I had more posts than the ones on the immediate screen. -_- They therefore missed out on significant development. For example, the only written feedback I got was "Target audience needs to be made clearer, maybe computer geeks because of type" <----??? Then contradicting this the only written achievement I was given was "Type used". I made it quite clear the audience I was aiming for was actually my peers and the fact they like the type I used, which I took time to choose (see previous blog posts, something they failed to do) means I am successfully targeting my chosen audience.
Overall I now know that I need to work on a better packaging prototype, show more development and start considering I need to include in my learning report. I suppose I do need to put more thought into my target audience because it needs to be more refined.

Finished mock prototype
Below are some images of the package I made for the East India Tea company:
This is the East India tea logo
For the lyrics, I used the 'dubbing star' font I talked about earlier and then for the East India tea company logo I used there font so people could identify the brand.
As this is the first prototype, I have left out quite a few pieces of information. Like product description, ingredients and other requirements. These things can be put on the bottom of the packaging. The packaging is also a bit flimsy in build because I only used standard printing paper. I shall use a thicker GSM for the final prototype. I also fixed the net together with tape which didn't look very neat. Next time I am going to used double-sided tape so you can't see it, I will use a penknife to cut the net more neatly as well as the tape.

Tea Package prototype
So this is a screenshot of my packaging before printing it onto the packaging. I wrote more lyrics in the background to give the whole packaging more texture.
