Publications

Here are two examples of different publications that I found would show different areas of typography seeng as they are both have completely different purposes.

The first one chose was taken from a video game magazine that I found from a while ago. The type used is fairly consistent and primary for ease of reading. No eye catching typography here, just visually pleasing types to intice the reader to read more. The size of the types (usually measured in picas) are fairly large for the title and also for the first letter of the review of the game which is a method convetnionally seen in newspapers mroe than magazines.

This magazine will primarily be aimed at teenagers and young adults interested in gaming which is why the chosen typeface is not too boring and old like Times New Roman for example.

This is a leaflet for a pizza fast food takeaway. Therefore the main purpose of this type is to attract people into buying the product. The type used is very large, bold and in your face. It catches your attention but gives you more information than that it is just a food service. It is a cheap food service. The images, layout, font use, size and colours all make it look very cheap and in turn makes the audience think the food is also cheap.

This advert is clearly aimed at teenagers/students who want to food and fast after a night out and don't necassrily care about the taste as long as it's cheap.

(I also looked at a page taken out of a holiday brochure magazine which had very similar traits to the games magazine)
